Level 3 – Intermediate Class

At this level you’re really beginning to feel connected to moving in the Oriental way. You are comfortable with layering of movements and shimmies and are accustomed to more intricate foot work. At Level 3 we place increased emphasis on developing musicality, understanding rhythms, phrases and nuances of the music. More complex movement, layering and interesting travelling steps are taught. Longer combinations are emphasized. We take movements outside of the realm of sheer drilling with an emphasis on dancing within the music and developing your own personal style. A variety of texturizing and stylization techniques are explored and the student is clearly on their way to the advanced level. Props such as veil, cane, finger cymbals are used. Choreography is often taught during this session or partial choreographies.
