Just wanted to let you know your workshop was fantastic Joharah! Having danced primarily choreographies I wanted to learn more about the dance movements themselves. I found the workshop to be a great source of information and to be very challenging. I learned many new moves to take home to refine and moves to add to my own repetoire. I enjoyed your emphasis on breathing technique for movements. I have to say it was a phenomenal workout as well! You are a fantastic teacher and I can't wait to the next one. I think all dancers should attend these types of workshops to enhance their own dance skills and I have told all my dance friends about your next one. See you there! Nicole
Joharah's recent Foundation Tune Up was an excellent review of the basics and a reminder of the importance of small technical details that can make or break a dancer's overall performance. With such a concentrated overview, the dancer has the chance to "put it all together" and to see the bigger picture. Joharah's workshop was well thought and organized and prepared with a good balance of verbal explanations and helpful drills. The use of analogies added humour and clarity. Particularly beneficial to me ws the emphasis on posture, feet placement, arm and hand and even head movements. I really enjoyed the "lead and follow" dance at the end. The three hours sped by! I've only been dancing for six months, once a week and through your workshop you helped me understand the movements more clearly. I found the way you talked about the shapes of a movement very valuable and it helped me create the shape with my movements. Your visuals and analogies were very helpful to me. Your style and fluidity is something I hope to achieve along the way. I like that your teaching style incorporates a sense of freestyle where we can follow along with you. There's always alot of "flow" with your classes with not too much nit picking but enough correction to help me see where I need to improve. The workshop was so inspiring and worth the drive to your studio. I will be doing more workshops with you again in March. Sandra (a baby in belly dancing but eager to grow!)
I really enoyed the material you taught. It helped me alot with my posture and finding my energy points and also the emphasis on learning to smile or just relax when I'm dancing was helpful. I had so much energy after the class and felt great! Debbie
I really enjoyed your workshop and learned so much and I love the concept of a 3 hour workshop! Coming from a different studio there are alot of terms and movements I've never been taught and your emphasis on footwork was valuable. What attracted me to bellydance in the first place was that there is so much to learn and there is definitely a lot more for me to learn. It is a great opportunity to be close enough to attend your workshops as you have alot to share with all of your students. You can count on me for attending more of your workshops! Diane.
I loved absolutely all of the Foundation Tune Up Workshop. Drilling the movements is so valuable and you broke down the moves slowly which made it easier to start moving faster and faster with them. I realize how much I need to work on footwork, take smaller steps and relaxing while I'm dancing. Words cannot express how much I got out of this workshop. I think every dancer, at any level needs to experience one of your intense classes. Awesome! Chantal
This workshop was perfect for me and I felt really empowered at the end of it. I liked how you enforced basic bellydance principles throughout the workshop because it helped remind me how much I really need to practice. The drilling was immensely useful to me. I certainly discovered by weaknesses as well i.e. shimmies and my less dominant side. Your walking around to correct posture and feet is very useful. and it helps make sure we are doing it correctly. Liza
Joharah your workshop was just great. It was such a good refresher for me and I enjoyed your interpretations of dance moves to the music you use. I haven't danced since June and I can feel that my body needed a really good tune-up. I enjoyed the emphasis you place on posture and arms and your constant reminders of practicing if only for a few minutes a day. You flow and dance beautifully which gives us all something to aspire to. And your workshop was very affordable! Thank you! Petra
