BellyUp is proud to be hosting Egyptian Superstar Mohamed el Hosseny on his first ever visit to Toronto, Canada. I've been following Mohammed el Hosseny for some time now through his amazing videos on You Tube and hearing incredible things about his talents from other dancers I know worldwide. When Nourhan Sharif met Mohamed el Hosseny in Finland (he is Egyptian born), she was blown away by his layers of talent and ability to execute both on stage and in a classroom. His humble nature, incredible focus, teaching skills, stamina, sense of humour, understanding of music and ability to choreograph on the spot while he is singing to his students is indeed a rare find. Nourhan believes he is at the peak of his career as a performing and is eating up the ground he stands on as a teacher and preservationists as we move into the future of Raks Sharqi.  Now take a look at Mohammed el Hosseny in action. And scroll down to read about his 4 days of incredible training with Mohamed this coming September. You'd have to go to Egypt to find this kind of training with a master like El Hosseny! Now you just have to travel to BellyUp!

Here's what only a few of his many students had to say about his recent U.S. Tour last year:

Don't miss this chance to study Orientale dance with this amazingly talented and gifted dancer, choreographer, trainer and performer. Fifty years from now people will commonly refer to the two giants of Egyptian musical theater and dance. Mahmoud Reda of the 20th century and Mohamed el Hosseny of the 21st. Single-handedly preserving the dying male folk dances of the Suez region known as Simsimiyya, while also molding it into his own modern dance form for both male and female dancers, el Hosseny is not only bringing both traditional folkloric and Oriental Egyptian dance into the 21st centure, but into the international dance scene like never before! Zsuzsi of California

What Mohamed gives in one day of workshop is the amount of vocabulary you would normally learn in three workshops. He has a phenomenal work ethic as well as a complete and comprehensive teaching style. He explains technique, cultural relevance, music, and emotional nuance which is rare to find. He has an incredible range of subjects to teach an dhas endless energy. It is an extraordinary opportunity to learn from the best in this genre! Virginia Mendez of Miami

Mohamed was truly dynamic. I felt like I was taking a classical technical class! That is the level he has achieved with Orientale Dance. Jihan Jamal of Miami

Mohamed el Hosseny is the instructor we need to revitatlize our dancing. His performance talent and instructional ability to infuse dancers with performance pizazz and excitement. Ma Shuqa of SF
