Egyptian Folklore Class

BellyUp instructor "Sahar" was part of Toronto's Rhythm of the Nile Folklore troupe and shares her training and experience during time along with  her additional studies with this class as she teaches a variety of folkloric dance steps and stylizations as well as full choreographies that will build progressively week to week.  Props may be used from time to time such as Cane and Melaya.  There is no pressure to learn the full choreography but for those who do, they'll have several full routines by the end of the term.  Students are encouraged to learn the combinations within a choreography if not for the full routine, for the dance sequences which are great for practice and can be used with other music.  Bellydancers are recommended to take this class to broaden their repetoire of skills and movement and gain a broader understanding of Egyptian culture and their dance.  Folklore is the heart and roots of all that is bellydance and is a very wonderful and important part of the bellydance culture.
