The legendary Madam Raqia Hassan returns to BellyUp direct from Egypt for her fourth time teaching at our studio. She will be making only one Canadian trip in 2019 and this is it! She's the trainer to the Stars! A renaissance woman in the Oriental dance community who has focused her talent on teaching others rather than on her own stage career. As a result she has trained some of the biggest modern day Egyptian stars. She is credited with training Dina, Mona el Said, Azza Sharif, Dandash, Randa Kamel, Soroia Zaied, Aziza of Cairo, and the list goes on! She is one of the most highly sought after Raqs Sharqi choreographers today. Madam Raqia travels extensively to teach worldwide most months of the year. She is the founder and creator of Ahlan wa Sahlan dance festival which has been at the heart of the Oriental dance community and is credited with keeping the art of Egyptian dance alive! She has her own very unique "Raqia technique" that she teaches in her videos and in her dance workshops all over the world. Her teaching style is top notch. She cares as much about the beginner dancer as she does the professional. She is friendly, professional and patient. She knows just what she is aiming for and is very clear in her explanations. She always brings something new and thrilling in her technique and choreographies.

ABOUT THE WEEKEND

During this exciting weekend Raqia Hassan will teach at BellyUp Burlington Friday to Sunday. Take the entire weekend or single or multiple days to suit your preference. Saturday night BellyUp hosts an exciting Hafla for our guest of honor Mdm. Raqia Hassan with performance opportunities for all levels. The party will be held at BellyUp Burlington. This is a great opportunity to mingle, perform for Mdm Raqia and get to know her in a more social setting.

Public Transport: Closest GO Train is Burlington stop. We are a 5 minute Uber from the GO Station.

Driving: If you are driving to BellyUp Burlington, take either Brant St or Guelph Line off the QEW and head south to Lakeshore Rd. Our area offers FREE street parking and Green P parking on evenings and weekends. There are always spots to be found!

Air Travel: Toronto Pearson International (YYZ) is about 40 minute Uber drive from downtown Burlington or from Downtown Toronto. Depending on where you are arriving from, you can check Hamilton International Airport which is slightly closer to BellyUp in Downtown Burlington.
